Chapter Eighteen

Jun. 20th, 2008 | 05:54 pm

This is one of my favorite chapters.  It also has another friend as a random background character--Daphna appears for a few witty words.  Still need to crank out another chapter and upload the rest here as I go along.  I have up to chapter 25 finished.

Chapter Seventeen

Jun. 13th, 2008 | 03:48 pm

It's been forever.  I still am writing this piece.  I think I may finally be wrapping it up.  I'm leaving it open for possible future novels in the universe.  Some day I want to write one with Kan'ai really growing up out of school.  With her dreams of having a school of her own and all.  Adventuring every which way.  Someday.

I have a quiet moment right now.  Snoopy's coming to pick me up so we can grab food and go to Boston for the evening for the Dyke March.  Working mainly on a fanfic at the moment but I'll come back to this some time when I have a few extra moments.

Just a quick planning chapter for Kan'ai.

Aaaaand some not so good news.

Chapter Fifteen

Feb. 26th, 2008 | 11:09 pm

And now Kan'ai collects her good news.  =).

I'll be putting up lots of chapters in a short time.  Trying to inspire myself to really find writing time to finish at least the first book of this up.  Then I can get back to writing all the other things Snoopy--my Siola--demands of me.

Chapter Fourteen

Feb. 25th, 2008 | 06:09 pm

This is just a cutesy fluff chapter.  Still, I like it.  =).  Welcome home Kan'ai!

Sorry I haven't put anything up lately.  I so badly want to go back to writing!  Gehhh +shakes fist on senior year.+  There we go, though.  At least a chapter!

Chapter Thirteen

Jan. 6th, 2008 | 05:22 pm
music: Fall Stories -- Girlyman

The return home and the introduction of a new character!  I haven't been doing much writing for this, but I'll get back into it I'm sure.  I got bad with my time management this weekend.  But...I have painted nails?  =P.

There we go.  I did my English homework, so since I had the flashdisk in I thought I would put up a new chapter.

Chapter Twelve

Jan. 3rd, 2008 | 11:27 pm

I needed to remember that I'm living and not perishing, so I'm making up this post.  College is eating me alive and I haven't started yet.  But a little voice in the back of my head is telling me that I'm going to get through this and everything is going to be OK and I'll still be Kiwi and happy, so I'm going to listen to her.

This is just a long, drawn-out goodbye chapter.  After all that happened at camp I thought I just needed to jam-pack a chapter with some nice Trealta feel and express how hard the goodbyes really would be.

Now I'm going to go not die.  How can I have been in school only 2 days and feel this stressed out?  Senior in high school = not so fun.  But then, I didn't expect it to be.  I guess it's happy sometimes.  Annnnyway, I'll save that for my real livejournal.  Have a nice evening!

Chapter Eleven

Jan. 2nd, 2008 | 08:37 pm

Hokay, so...  Haha.  I finished my homework and stuff, and I had to plug in my zipdiskorwhateveritis, so I decided I would upload a chapter.  This is just a quickie chapter, but it's cute.

I totally forgot that the reader finds out about Ms. Malay's love life.  I need to remember that for what I'm writing now, since Kan'ai's apprenticeship is about to start...  Hmm.  Haha.  Whatever, I expected inconsistencies.  What else will I find in an un-edited, un-planned novel?  =P.

Chapter Ten

Dec. 19th, 2007 | 09:20 pm

I thought I would put this up so that Snoopy doesn't kill me in the face.  Should be doing a park management project, but I have all the information and it's all sorted...  I'll work on it 'til 10 and then wake up at 5 to do more.  It's the last thing before break.  I'm going to live!

I like this chapter.  It was fun to write.  (I can't wait for break, so I can keep writing this story.  It's going to be so long.)

Same rules apply for chapter 10.  No poking fun!

I am so tired.  Break, you are my first love right now.

Chapter Nine

Dec. 1st, 2007 | 12:19 am

Here we go, chapter nine.  Not terribly long, but here we go, blowing up the plotline!  But don't you fear, that's my favorite thing to do.

This has been a very strange yet delightful experience.  I pictured a beginning sort of scene and an end sort of scene when I went to write this, and all this is filling out the middle.  To me it's like seeing a picture and then writing the story to go along with it.  When I do outlines (however extensively), it feels much more like receiving a story and then drawing the pictures to go along with it.  Just adding little pictures to enhance scenes.  I like this form--writing stories to go with small pictures.

Ah, there we go.  I suppose that both of those examples fit the 'Pictures are worth a thousand words' only when I don't use an outline, they're apparently worth 25,000 words.  How much I appreciate pictures now!

This is going to be long, Providential Horn.  At this point I think it will be broken up into multiple books.  There's no way it's fitting into one, even if I take out the padding--unless I want a super long book.  Well, maybe.  We'll see.  Not sure I'm ready for this.

I like this whole process a lot more knowing that I'm not looking to publish or have it be worth anything.  I write because I enjoy writing.  I had a very stressful week this school week, and writing 7,000 words was the perfect way to decompress tonight.  That's the part I like.  No paranoia about editing and perfection, no editors criticizing the way I do and write things, nothing to worry about...

Mmm.  This feels good.  Onto Chapter Nine.

There we go.

May go back and read my NaNoWriMo '05 story now.  It was terrible but I like it anyway.  =P.

Winner!

Nov. 30th, 2007 | 11:27 pm

So I came home today and wrote 7k words while watching that Yay-Rat-Cooking film, D.E.B.S. (Booby wanted me to watch it again when he wanted to let me borrow his copy in math, but I already had Snoopy's) and Claire of the Moon.  ...which, yeah, I know, is a WICKED pretentious lesbian movie, but to be completely honest?  Goodness, one of those MCs/Main Characters is fabulously delicious.

So I got to 50,000 words and I'm still not at the end.  There's a lot of padding, I know.  =P.  I like padding!  It's fine when it's a NaNovel.  Not as though I'm trying to publish or anything.  Giggle.

So, I made it to chapter 19.  Word said I had more than 50k words at that point, but when I plugged it into the NaNoWriMo site they told me I only had 49.8k, so I went a little into chapter 20.

This may end up being a double-book thing.  We'll see what I do next, huh?  I'll keep uploading.  Don't worry.  I just don't want to put things up too quickly.  Want to give people the chance to read.

So yay!  I won NaNoWriMo an hour before it was over.  Once more, my powers of procrastination have worked!

I don't feel like putting the images up.  =P.  I never do use them for anything.

Another general yay!

Chapter Eight

Nov. 26th, 2007 | 09:27 pm
music: Galileo - Indigo Girls

Snoopy has been bugging me ceaselessly, so here comes chapter eight.

I can't even remember what goes on in these chapters anymore.  Oops.  Oh well.

And there is no way this is going to be done when I reach 50k, so I guess I'll be continuing it past NaNo before I go back to my untitled High School Novel, which Snoopy also wishes to see more of.

Ignore mistakes!

Snoopy's word of the day = stratified.

And NOW, back to the show.  Cough.  Writing.  Only need 2.4k!  But I hope I go more.

I'll do more when I go home.

Chapter Seven

Nov. 23rd, 2007 | 09:49 pm
music: Yes - South Side of the Sky

Okay, uploading chapter seven now.  That will officially mean I have uploaded more than half of what I wrote (for now).

I've just had my Double Dose of Turkey Death Day (Also known as "Turkey Day," "T-Day," "Thanksgiving," and "'Why Are All These People In My House?' Day."  It really wasn't so bad.  Merf came along for the one at my house, only I got really bad cramps that made me nauseous.  I see that happening a lot now that winter is at our doorstep; with my hips getting sore and the area getting tense, I won't be surprised at all if my moontime grows more than slightly uncomfortable.

Anyway!  This link has been passed around.  Apparently, Da Dearest read chapter six (a true brainiac reads the last chapter first, and don't you forget it! =P).  I'm not sure how much Mum has read.  It's being passed around to a few more people.

I am going to try very, very hard not to get too self-conscious.  That may be tricky.  Anyway, here we go.  As always, please ignore mistakes.  No editing!

Just a short, cute chapter.  I guess I had it as a quick jump to one important lesson of her camp life: she can be destined to be with someone forever on such a strong level, yet still be free without forcing the two apart.  Something like that.  I'm not all that eloquent right about now.

Tomorrow = trip to Museum of Science with the Aggie Gang and Daphna.  Then probably more writing, 'cause it's Saturday and what else are Saturdays for?  I'm going to do this.  I really am.

Going to go pop "The Truth About Jane" into the DVD player because I saw the woman who gave it to me today.  I didn't get to say goodbye.  =(.  Mum is going to try to find her email.

(Booby sent me music to get into.  This song is full of win.)

Chapter Six

Nov. 12th, 2007 | 08:25 pm

Here we go with chapter six, then.  An introduction to Camp Trealta.

If you think any of it is unrealistic camp-wise--I can't remember a lot of what I wrote about the camp--I'd have to say that a lot of it is really similar to the camp that I went to, Rowe Camp.  So it really is a very liberal camp and it does have a base in real life.

Ignore mistakes.  =).

And now I guess I have to get back to my real life, meaning not back-to-back movies and thousands of words.  Blech on studying and homework and college.  I'll be fine.

Update

Nov. 12th, 2007 | 08:23 pm
music: RENT

I took today as a Kiwi Gets to be Introverted Day.

I'm up to 24,000 words now.  1k away from halfway through.  I'm leaving that accomplish for another day.  =).

It's been a sad day, especially writing up to where I got to, but it's worth it.  I've finished writing about camp stuff.  I'm up to chapter 12.  I guess I'll put up six, then, to have at least half of the chapters up.

Chapter Five

Nov. 11th, 2007 | 05:45 pm
music: Wicked - Popular

So, up comes Chapter Five.  Same warnings.  Just as little plot-thought.  =).  I love writing novels off the top of my head and just not caring.

Sometimes I think I'm afraid of "being good" because that would mean putting myself out there and coming across the possibility that I'm not...but that's a fear for another time.

So here's the chapter!

(And yes, that last line is supposed to be a snorter.  You'll meet Diatra more soon.)

This novel is fun to write.  I doubt it's as fun to read.  =).

And I miss my laptop!  I still haven't written anything!  Lack-of-laptop-induced writing block?

Chapter Four

Nov. 11th, 2007 | 01:00 pm
mood: aggravated aggravated
music: Alanis Morissette - All I Really Want

So, I thought I had uploaded to at least chapter five.  But that obviously isn't the case!  I've finished 8, but only uploaded half...  oops!

Same warnings as always.  Here's chapter four.

I've got 15k words done, and I feel way behind.  I'm going to write a lot now.  I'm just so annoyed!  My laptop spontaneously wouldn't start.  Like, I was writing on it upstairs in my room, decided to go downstairs to work on college app. stuff.  So I shut it down properly, unplugged it properly, went downstairs to turn it on and...nothing.

It just mysteriously won't start.

Now, I've written hundreds of thousands of words on this computer.  Many with this keyboard, which I love despite its lack of number grid.  Somehow, though, I've always preferred to do NaNoWriMo on a laptop.  It's wonderful to just rest in my bed, watching a movie above my laptop screen, while I produce thousands of words.  This would be my third year doing that.

Somehow, it is all different without my laptop.  I don't like this.

Chapter Three

Nov. 3rd, 2007 | 07:08 pm
music: How Could Anyone || Libby Roderick

Snoopy commented on the last entry (in Spanish) so now I get to upload the third chapter!  Yay.  One of my favorite characters doesn't come around until the next chapter, but I still enjoy this one.  It's a nice, happy chapter.  Fluffy.  For the most part.  Enjoy!

(And again please ignore mistakes.  There will be plenty.)

There we go.  =D.

Chapter Two

Nov. 3rd, 2007 | 11:08 am

Went right on into this. I think I'll get more into her head later, when she's away. Hmm. Again, please ignore mistakes. I'm not editing as I go.  (It's funny to see what words I use when I mean another.  Such as "back" for "bag."  Silly Kiwi brain.)

I personally think it's funny how often I will mean to use a synonym (like at the end, when speaking about minds and thoughts) but, because I used one word before, will use it again.  And forget the I used it again, and use it once more.  Such things don't happen when I take my time, but alas, NaNoWriMo is not about taking one's time!  I think it's quite humorous.  I'll have a ball of rewriting and editing this little piece.

I'm basically just looking for one comment that says someone has read it before going on to the next chapter, but I really appreciate comments if you would like to leave them!  Even if it's on how silly my word-mixups are, or the fact that you really relate with Kan'ai's backpack in the way it's lugged around.   Or think that Kan'ai should be a lefty.  Just...anything!  I would really like this to be an active, community-like journal.

Let's go for it!
